Our Staff Team

Charlotte Leask
(CEO)
Charlotte joined Headway Nottingham as a volunteer in 2011 and six months later joined the staff team a a part-time administrator. She gradually took on more responsibility and increased her hours taking on the role of Day Centre Manager in April 2016 before taking a step up, once again, to become Services Manager in April 2018. She hopes to raise awareness about the long term effects of brain injury and encourage compassion towards those who are often misunderstood and marginalised.
Outside of work Charlotte is Mum to three children and spends her spare time (of which there is very little) enjoying trips to the theatre, art exhibitions and reading.

Rhiana Lakin
(Business Development & Communications Manager)
Rhiana joined us at Headway Nottingham in 2014 after spending many years fundraising at a national level for the same cause. She works passionately and tirelessly to raise awareness about the long-term effects of brain injury and the work we do to support those people struggling to adjust to life after injury often spending her evenings and weekends at varied events and functions promoting our work. Hoorah!
The focus areas of her role include press and PR, business development and fundraising.
Outside of work, Rhiana is Mum to two boys which limits her spare time, however she manages to find the time to support sustainable living and animal welfare campaigns.

Angela Cattermer
(Senior Support Worker)
Angela started work at Headway Nottingham in 2011. She has a passion for making a difference to people’s lives and helping those she supports to regain their confidence and the skills they need to live independent and full lives. She has chosen the words of another to end her bio…

Case Manager
Our Case Manager is our first responder to all new referrals received at Headway Nottingham. When a referral arrives with us they will get in touch to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet to discuss your specific challenges, support needs and goals you’d like to set for your time at our rehabilitation hub.
Our Case Manager also supports with benefits applications, reviews and brain injury-specialised advocacy. They are knowledgeable, friendly and dedicated to empowering people with brain injuries to live well.

Adam Underwood
(Support Worker)
Adam joined Headway Nottingham in July 2023 and is new to support work but as a long-time supporter and volunteer for Headway Nottingham, a qualified fitness instructor and a neurodiverse person himself he hopes to be able to offer holistic and uplifting support to our clients.
In his spare time Adam keeps fit, reads an enormous amount of books, plays and listens to music and spends as much time in the great outdoors as he can.

Fay Hall
(Support Worker)
I’m Fay. I have many years experience working with people who have communication differences and who are neurodivergent. I’m committed to understanding, supporting and empowering people living with brain injuries here at Headway Nottingham to reach their goals.
In my spare time I enjoy walking, listening to podcasts, reading and being creative, especially sewing and embroidery.
Our Trustees

James Blakey
(Company Secretary)
James is currently the Head of Credit Risk at Oakbrook Finance, a loan provider based in the centre of Nottingham. After graduating Warwick University with a BSc in mathematics, James joined the Capital One graduate programme where he spent 4 years as an analyst. James then moved down to work in the City of London for 18 months before returning to Nottingham to join Oakbrook Finance.
Once James returned to Nottingham, he joined the Headway Nottingham board of trustees and currently holds the role of company secretary.

Sam Harris
(Chair)
Sam Harris is a Registered Nurse and the Managing Director and Senior Case Manager of HACM Limited.
Sam has worked as a Case Manager since 2002 where she has specialised in the coordination of rehabilitation of individuals with complex brain, orthopaedic and spinal injury. Sam coordinates complete rehabilitation programmes for adults and children with complex and multiple physical difficulties.
Prior to this Sam worked within the NHS for 15 years where she gained extensive experience in a variety of trauma and rehabilitative settings. Upon qualifying as a General Nurse Sam worked within the post acute settings and specialised in Trauma and Orthopaedic roles which included neuro and spinal rehabilitation.
Sam is registered through the Nursing and Midwifery Council and is a member of the Royal College of Nursing. Sam is a Director of Case Management Society UK and previous Chair of the Society. Sam is an Advanced Member of the British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers.

Jennifer Ditchfield
Jennifer has a longstanding commitment to understanding and supporting the psychological needs of individuals with brain injury and neurological illness. She is a clinical psychologist with additional training in neuropsychology and has been qualified for nearly 10 years. She has worked in both community and inpatient neuropsychology services, in addition to mental health services in the NHS.

Adam Sutcliffe
Adam is a qualified Psychiatric Nurse. He started his career working as a Nurse for Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, specialising in substance misuse.
In 2018 Adam left the NHS to join Framework to set up an inpatient detoxification service that he now manages, providing
treatment for service users throughout the East Midlands.
Over his career he has been witness to the challenges posed to individuals who have suffered with a brain injury, in particular those suffering with an alcohol related brain injury. He is keen to contribute towards removing barriers for those wishing to access care and treatment, whilst providing support and education to individuals and their families.

Hilary Rapinet
Hilary is a senior HR practitioner with over 20 years of experience in global HR leadership roles in private sector companies mainly based in Nottinghamshire.
A languages graduate from Sheffield University and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, she has spent much of her career as HR Director and Head of HR for two local companies, Games Workshop Ltd and Romax Technology Limited, contributing through periods of expansion, growth and business success.
Hilary’s greatest areas of expertise and interest are people, culture, teams, communications, compliance including health and safety and Charity fundraising within companies. She currently works on a part time basis in a global HR projects role, combining this with both Trustee and other Charity work.

Greg Almond
Greg is a Serious Injury Solicitor at Rotheras, and is head of the firm’s Personal Injury department. He acts for clients who have suffered catastrophic injuries including brain and spinal Injuries. He often meets with his clients at home, hospital or wherever is convenient for them and their family, nationwide. Greg qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and has specialised in Personal Injury for more than 16 years.
Greg has a modern, practical and sympathetic approach to his work and strives to ensure his clients receive the maximum compensation possible, which will often include assistance with future care, accommodation, and payments for lost income.

Lesley Edwards
Lesley is a solicitor and is currently Head of Personal Injury at Barratts Solicitors in Nottingham. She specialises in representing clients who have suffered traumatic brain injury and has a particular interest in neuro-rehabilitation in children and adults.
For over 25 years, Lesley has worked extensively with case managers, therapists, and architects to ensure that her clients have the best possible environment to maximise their recovery and quality of life after TBI. She has extensive experience of special educational needs within the context of brain injury, as she has represented children and young adults whose education has been disrupted as a result of their injuries.
Lesley is particularly keen to raise awareness of the challenges that individuals and their families face after brain injury and has provided training to the police, insurers, and other professional bodies during the course of her career.

Vicky Davison
Vicky has worked across the health and social care economy for over forty-five years, and remains on the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s register.
During her career she has undertaken a variety of different roles from Accident and Emergency to Health Visiting, as well as nurse lead at board level in the NHS and charity sector. As a board-level nurse in the NHS, Vicky was responsible for safeguarding and engaging with groups from different cultural backgrounds with the aim of improving their health and emotional well-being.
Vicky has also been involved in overseas development work in South Africa, Namibia and Kazakhstan.
Vicky has carried out work as an independent assessor/advisor for the NHS Ombudsman within the Healthcare Commission and was a chair of the CHC (Continuing Healthcare) Tribunals assessing relevant social care and health needs for NHS England. In addition, holding the post of Programme Director at De Montfort University overseeing national and international Health and Social Care leadership programme for the Business School.
At present Vicky is a Specialist Professional Advisor for a regulation body and compiles specialist court reports for a Human Rights Chamber.

Stephen Lowe
Steve is a recently retired commercial and Marketing Director and CEO, having held senior leadership roles mainly in hard goods retailing. He currently undertakes consultancy and coaching projects for small businesses.
Steve started his career as an engineering apprentice for Raleigh Industries, the bicycle company. Most recently, he was Director of Business Development for Victoria Plum, CEO OF Tramlink Nottingham and Customer Marketing Director for Screwfix.
Steve is also a trustee of St. John’s Church in Beeston, Nottingham.
